Have you been trying to decide between going on a Walt Disney World vacation or taking a Disney Cruise? It’s a hard decision and one that we contemplate often! I’d like to give you some things to consider to help you (possibly) make your decision between Disney World or Disney Cruise!
Things to consider about a Walt Disney World vacation:
You’re on land!
Maybe the idea of floating around on a huge ship doesn’t really appeal to you, or you’re really worried about being in the middle of the ocean. Well, you don’t have to worry about that with a WDW vacation! You are safe in the middle of central Florida.
WDW vacations are exhausting.
Everyone who has been to Disney World knows that it’s a tiring and busy vacation. I mean… you want to get your money’s worth right? My fitness app said that the last time we were there we walked on AVERAGE 11 – 15 miles a day. If you want a relaxing vacation, WDW is not going to cut it.
There are a lot of thrills!
If you are looking for lots of fun attractions and thrilling rides then you will want to choose Disney World. Roller coasters, boat rides, 3D rides, and more (oh my)! WDW is the place if you are looking for a wide variety of attractions and family fun!
It’s more traditional DISNEY.
If you think of Splash Mountain, Cinderella’s Castle, & Spaceship Earth when you think of your happy place, then you definitely will want to choose WDW as your vacation destination. A Walt Disney World vacation is more DISNEY than a Disney Cruise in my opinion.
Things to consider about a Disney Cruise Line vacation:
There are so many destinations!
The awesome thing about Disney Cruise Line is the ability to explore many different places in the world with a touch of Disney magic! If you want to explore new places and destinations then you would want to choose a Disney Cruise for sure!
There’s a chance of motion sickness.
If you or someone in your family suffers from motion sickness then you are at a chance of a ruined vacation. There are medications and other holistic approaches to combat motion sickness, but I’m not sure that I’d want to chance it unless I KNEW it would work! No one wants to be sick for their whole vacation!
It’s WAY more relaxed!
If you want a Disney experience that is relaxed, then a Disney Cruise might be for you! Don’t get me wrong… there is still a lot to do. You WON’T be bored! But, a Disney Cruise vacation is much more chill and relaxed than a WDW vacation which can be really nice!
It’s “all-inclusive” but also a lot more expensive.
A Disney Cruise is an “all-inclusive” type of vacation. There are extra add ons that you can pay for (if you want), but you don’t really have to worry about your food or onboard activities. It makes it a bit easier to budget for this type of Disney vacation, however it’s also quite a bit more expensive. When we price out a 4 night Disney Cruise, typically we could stay AT Disney World for 6-7 nights for the same price. Of course this all depends on many factors, but over all you will spend more on a Disney Cruise.
Disney World or Disney Cruise?
This post was not meant to persuade you either way. We LOVE going to Disney World and we also can’t wait to go on another Disney Cruise! It really depends on what type of vacation you are looking for and what is best for you at the time. Check out my other Disney Cruise posts and Walt Disney World posts to help you decide!
