Resort Hopping at Disney World to Deluxe Resorts!

Resort Hopping at Disney World to Deluxe Resorts

Have you ever been resort hopping at Disney World? It is one of my family’s favorite things to do! We love checking out all the other resorts that we can’t afford to stay at (or just haven’t stayed at yet)! Check out my post on our favorite to resort hop to!

What exactly is resort hopping at Disney World?

If you are unsure what resort hopping actually is you might want to check out my guest post over at ChristineAHoward.com that I wrote All About Resort Hopping at Disney World first!  Resort hopping is simply checking out another Disney World resort that you aren’t staying at!  You can definitely go to the value or moderate resorts to check them out (I want to check out Art of Animation and Caribbean Beach).  We usually hop to deluxe resorts because I LOVE them but can’t afford to stay there yet!

How do you resort hop?

There are many different ways to resort hop at Disney.  This is talked about in my guest post, but I’ll review it quickly here!

  1.  Take the monorail and visit the three monorail resorts.
  2. Take the walking trail between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios to visit the three deluxe resorts in the EPCOT resort area.
  3. Park your car at Disney Springs and take the resort bus to the resort you want to visit.

Another FUN & EASY way to go resort hopping at Disney World is by water transportation!  Many resorts have water taxi or ferryboat transportation but we’ve only used the ferryboat to visit between Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter!  It’s a quick, fun, and easy resort hopping at Disney World experience!  You can take the ferryboat from Disney Springs and visit those two resorts and ride back again!  My son LOVED it!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

This resort is our favorite to go.  It’s my dream to stay here one day, but the great thing about resort hopping is that I can “pretend” I’m staying there for a bit.  We love to walk the grounds, check out the shops, and EAT at this resort!

The Basin White is one of my favorite shops at all of the Disney resorts!  It’s on the second floor and it’s a bath & spa product store.  We like just smelling the different products and sometimes you can try some out!

And of course our favorite place to eat at the Grand Floridian is 1900 Park Fare.  You can’t go wrong with breakfast OR dinner.  The character interaction is AWESOME and the food is AMAZING!  *Make sure you have a reservation!

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Every time we are in the Orlando area we have to visit the Beach Club Resort (even if we aren’t going to the Disney parks)!  That’s because our favorite restaurant is at this resort…  Cape May Cafe!  We eat at Cape May Cafe for the seafood dinner buffet every time we are in Orlando because it’s THAT good.  It’s the one place I don’t mind splurging!

The shops are also fun at the Beach Club because they are BEACH THEMED!  You can find a lot of cute things in these shops…  but after spending all my money on dinner we usually don’t buy anything!  Window shopping for me!  And the sunrise/sunset at the Beach Club Resort is breathtaking!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

This deluxe resort is a great one to go resort hopping to because you can see the Savannah animals!  The only way to resort hop to this resort is by driving your car (you can park here if you have a dining reservation) or by parking at Disney Springs and taking the bus.

Seeing the lobby of this resort is good enough, but there is so much more!  They have a great shop that has lots of unique merchandise in it that you can’t find at any other Disney resorts.  They also have unique dining that is African inspired.  We have eaten at Boma which is a buffet and it was delicious!  The Zebra Domes are my favorite (but you can grab those at the quick service location Mara if you don’t want to spend the money at the table service restaurant)!  And of course you can go outside and watch the sun set over the Savannah.

  1. Capt. Cook’s at the Poly is a fantastic quick service and a great place to stop for lunch during Resort Hopping! Followed by Dole Whip for dessert right nearby!

  2. Doing the MK Loop is our favorite first night activity at Walt Disney World. We always start our vacation with a monorail progressive dinner.

  3. We also enjoy Resort Hopping! Animal Kingdom is definitely on the list to see and eat at. Good examples of how to resort hop and why you should!
