Sapphire Falls is absolutely stunning. The pictures don’t even do it justice. When we arrived at Sapphire Falls I thought there is no way we could afford this place, but it’s actually only a step up from Cabana Bay (Universal’s value resort). Find out why I consider this my favorite Universal Orlando Resort (so far)… but also why we probably wouldn’t stay there again.
Loews Sapphire Falls is one of Universal’s Preferred Resorts
Loews Sapphire Falls is not only a BEAUTIFUL resort, but it also has great amenities. The pool area is one of the best in my opinion out of all of the Universal Orlando resorts on property (we still haven’t been to the Hard Rock Resort yet). It makes you feel like you are in the Caribbean! And most importantly (to my 8-year old) there is an awesome slide!
I didn’t think this resort could get any better until I saw it at sunset. WOW! This picture doesn’t even come close to how amazing it looked. It took my breath away!
Sometimes you stay in a hotel that has put all it’s money into the outside and the lobby and the rooms are just “eh”… but not at Loews Sapphire Falls. The theme goes all the way into the rooms and they really paid attention to every little detail. The beds are more comfortable than my bed at home… and the pillows… it’s like sleeping on a cloud! You just can’t go wrong!
Lots of Transportation Options
Sapphire Falls also has water taxi transportation to the parks (including the Wizarding World of Harry Potter) and City Walk and the ride is scenic and beautiful! If you choose to walk it’s only about a 10-15 minute stroll. We walked back via the path at night because we didn’t want to wait for the boat. They also offer bus services to Volcano Bay as well!
Limited Food Options
I thought that the food options at Loews Sapphire Falls were limited. We didn’t actually eat on the property while we were there because nothing really appealed to us. I usually only eat at the hotel for breakfast (I need protein first thing in the morning), but I couldn’t find a quick place to grab breakfast while we were there.
However, my sister in law has a large family and she really enjoyed being able to get family style portions at the New Dutch Training Co. which is a Caribbean style grab-and-go market open for lunch and dinner. We did grab ice cream there one night though and boy was it delicious!
The Downside to Sapphire Falls
The ONLY real downside to this resort (in my opinion) is that it doesn’t include Express Pass. My family really loves the Express Pass and I think it’s totally worth it. However if you add Express Pass to this resort it actually makes it cost more than if you were to just stay at Royal Pacific (which is supposed to be a higher class resort). I really wish that Universal would include Express Pass as an upgrade option that didn’t break the bank at Loews Sapphire Falls. Sadly it doesn’t and that’s a make or break situation for us. We just don’t like to wait in lines!
So far we’ve stayed at all of the Universal Orlando Resorts: Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Loews Royal Pacific, Portofino Bay Resort, and the Hard Rock Hotel, except for Universal’s Aventura Hotel. Sapphire Falls is still my absolute favorite (if only they would give me Express Pass)…
