I REALLY enjoy the theme at Islands of Adventure compared to Universal Studios. It feels like more than just a typical theme park because there are different worlds inside! There aren’t as many rides here that I really enjoy, but I was still able to name my top 5! Keep reading to find out which Universal Islands of Adventure Attractions I think are the best!
The fun adventure theme is what makes Universal Islands of Adventure attractions really stand out!
Islands of Adventure is a really unique place and has a lot of different themed “islands”. They have Marvel Superhero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Seuss Landing! I think that this park is more geared towards smaller kiddos, especially with all of the fun at Seuss Landing! Just because there’s a land for Dr. Seuss doesn’t meant that there aren’t thrills around the corner!
There are a lot of fun photo opportunities at this park as well. Make sure you get your picture taken with a T-Rex… if you’re really brave you can even meet a Velociraptor! Beyond the awesome scenery there are still some great rides at Universal Islands of Adventure! Check out which ones made my top 5!
#1 The Incredible Hulk
This coaster is the BEST coaster I think I’ve ever been on. It’s the big green one that you just can’t miss. In the beginning they catapult you out of the tunnel and from there it’s just nonstop fun! This ride seats 4 people in a row so it’s another great coaster that you can ride with the family. It’s intense and you do go upside down! This is my 8-year old son’s favorite Universal Islands of Adventure attraction!
#2 Doctor Doom’s Fearfall
I wasn’t quite ready for this attraction when I went on it the first time. My husband, brother in law, and I were talking while the attendants were strapping us in and then all of a sudden they were gone and we were just sitting there. Before we know it we were shot up into the sky 185-feet and then slowly fell back down. The best thrill about this ride is that you never KNOW when they are going to shoot you up! It’s the anticipation that gets me rather than the actual ride itself (although that’s pretty crazy too). Try this one at night… it’s AMAZING!
#3 Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
There are two Universal Islands of Adventure attractions that are water rides and this is one of them! YOU WILL GET WET. It’s a log style ride (4 people fit) with lots of “oh this is it” moments that psych you out! The REAL drop is 75-feet down with a huge splash at the bottom. I don’t think this one is as bad as Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges but some people say it’s worse. If you do get soaked you could always dry off in the human dryers… we did.
#4 Skull Island: Reign of Kong
This Universal Islands of Adventure attraction is one of those that you really have to check out. You are in a safari vehicle going on an expedition to Skull Island. It’s VERY dark and pretty intense. The neat thing about this attraction is that the 3D screens are ALL around you on BOTH sides of the vehicle. You will notice something different each time you ride. I don’t think this is one that I could go on over and over again, but definitely ride it more than once to see what you missed the first time around! *This one might be too intense for little ones.
#5 The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride!
Okay, so you probably have seen ALL of my favorite rides so far and you are giving me a confused look at this one. This is the only kiddie ride that is on my list (even my 8-year old thinks this is too childish), but I LOVE this one. This little trolley ride goes through Seuss Landing’s attractions and restaurants and it just made me feel happy!
I love how it gives you a sneak peak into the other stores, restaurants, and attractions. It’s sort of like the People Mover at Disney World, but with weird Dr. Seuss music and sounds. Sometimes you gotta break it up a bit from all the thrill and just enjoy the scenery!
If you are looking for more than thrill rides then you are looking for Universal Islands of Adventure!
I hope you liked this post and that it was helpful! Overall the Universal Islands of Adventure attractions are a little more mild, but I really love the theme at this park. If you have little ones, or Marvel fans then you definitely need to visit! However, if you are looking for thrill rides then you should check out my post of my Top 5 Universal Studios Attractions!
