We recently stayed at Universal’s Aventura Hotel and we were pleasantly surprised! It’s one of the newest resorts on Universal Orlando property, so we had to check it out for ourselves. We only stayed one night, but it was the perfect choice for a quick trip! Check out our Aventura Hotel review below if you are interested in our thoughts!
This Universal’s Aventura Hotel is high tech and super modern.
You can’t help but notice Universal’s Aventura Hotel as you are driving up to Universal Orlando property. I think it competes well with the volcano across the street! The tall building, with big, blue windows is stunning! It’s very similar to the towers at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. When we pulled up we were really excited to finally be able to check out the inside, which is just as trendy!
Open concept and wide open spaces!
When you walk in those doors you are walking into a wide open space of dining, lounges, bars, & shopping. Directly to your left is the check in counter (with some of the friendliest team members I’ve encountered). However, if you keep walking past that you will find the gift shop, lots of dining options, the lobby bar, and numerous elevators! I loved how open everything was & it was all so clean and bright!
The room at Universal’s Aventura Hotel would have been boring if it weren’t for the tech.
When we first walked into the hotel room I have to admit I was a tiny bit disappointed. It was just a room. Nothing amazing. The theme just wasn’t for me. I think you’ve probably already figured out I like the tropical or romantic themed rooms the best! Although I did really love Cabana Bay’s rooms too surprisingly!
The awesome thing about the room though was the iPad that controlled EVERYTHING. And I mean EVERYTHING. That little iPad controlled the lights, the TV, and the room temperature! You could also contact the front desk by sending them a message, order room service, and request items from housekeeping. We actually ordered two extra pillows using the iPad and they came really quickly!
Go for a dip in the pool, or walk a few steps to Volcano Bay!
The pool at Aventura is probably one of the simplest pools on Universal property. It wasn’t a BAD pool, it was just a pool. Nothing super fancy. They had games around the pool, lots of seating, and a hot tub (but it was too hot for that)! However, it was just steps away from the resort guest entrance to Volcano Bay. Literally you walk out of the back gate of the pool area and there you are! It was awesome!
Eating & drinking galore!
There are lots of options for eating and drinking at Universal’s Aventura Hotel. Need your daily Starbucks? You’ll find that in the lobby. Need something a bit stronger? There is a bar in the lobby (barVentura) & by the pool (Bar Sol). But the best bar is the rooftop bar at Bar 17 Bistro. Even if you have no intention of drinking (there is also yummy food here too), you HAVE to go up for the view! Keep in mind this area of the hotel doesn’t open until 4pm!
What I found the most unique about the dining was the main dining in the lobby area called the Urban Pantry! It’s like an upscale cafeteria style dining room, with an Asian Station, Burger Station, & Pizza Station. We got burgers and pizza, which were delicious, but I wish we would have tried the make your own Asian bowl! We were drooling over someone else’s and it looked amazing!
Time for some VR Entertainment.
As if this resort wasn’t techie enough, they decided to go with a VR Room instead of the typical arcade. Since we were celebrating Ashtyn’s birthday on our trip, they gave us a FREE VR game to try out. He got to do one 8-minute game and although he said it was fun, he didn’t care to do another one. However, this could be a fun time for those rainy days! They had three different stations inside (so three people can play at a time).
My final thoughts of Universal’s Aventura Hotel…
Overall, we thought that this was a great hotel for a short stay but I wouldn’t want to stay the entire week there. I thought the rooms felt a bit small & there wasn’t enough storage for me for a longer stay. Not to mention staying here doesn’t give you Unlimited Express Passes like staying at some of the other resorts do. With that all being said, I still think that Aventura Hotel is a GREAT choice in a great price range!
