Top 5 Vacations for Families (That I Want to Go On)

Vacations for Families

As you know from reading this blog, my family goes to Disney World and Universal Orlando a lot.  But that doesn’t mean that we don’t have vacation dreams of other destinations!  In fact we have a list of vacations that we’d like to go on in the next ten years and I’m sharing them with you!  Check out the TOP 5 vacations for families that I want to go on before my son grows up!

Check out my TOP 5 vacations for families that I want to go on in the next ten years!

We have gone on a lot of vacations.  And we are very lucky for that.  However, my husband has mentioned here and there that he’d really like to try some other vacation destinations.  You know…  other than Disney & Universal (gasp!).  I have to agree that I’d like to as well, so we have come up with a list of vacations for families that we’d like to check out before our son is grown and gone (I don’t want to think about it)!

Beaches All-Inclusive Turks & Caicos

You’ve heard of Sandals’ All-Inclusive resorts right?  Well, Beaches is the family friendly sister!  Beaches Turks & Caicos  is a vacation for families that has been on my list for a while now.  I mean…  have you SEEN the pictures on the website?  It looks like a paradise!  It’s also one of the highest rated Beaches resorts on TripAdvisor, so people obviously love it!

Beaches Turks & Caicos is located on a white sand beach on the north shore of the island of Providenciales in Turks and Caicos.  There are 5 different themed “villages” to stay in with 6 pools, 21 restaurants, a water park, plenty of stuff for kids, water sports galore, plus much more!  Not to mention it’s all-inclusive!

Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa

Just like above, Dreams is the sister to Secrets resorts.  My husband and I went to a Secrets’ resort in Mexico for our honeymoon and it was one of the most fabulous vacations I have ever been on.  I have never felt so relaxed in my life as I did in those few days together on the beach and lounging around in the pool.  We didn’t have to worry about anything except when we were going to go eat next!

Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa is located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic.  This resort features one of the largest free form swimming pools in all of the Dominican!  There is a casino on site as well as a world class spa.  If you would like a night (or day) alone without the kids, there is also an Explorer’s Club that is included!

Atlantis, Paradise Island

Atlantis is just one of those places that I feel like I need to check out.  The fact that it isn’t all-inclusive sort of has kept me from really considering it, but my son is DYING to go.  We got one of those marketing videos in the mail once and ever since he’s convinced he has to go to Atlantis at least once.  I know a few people that have gone and really enjoyed it, so that’s why it’s on our list!

Atlantis, Paradise Island is located on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.  Although it is not considered an all-inclusive resort there are many activities and features that are included with your stay.  Atlantis has the world’s largest open-air marine habitat and their own water park!  This resort also has a Casino and beautiful beaches.  However, a downside that I have read about is that the food is VERY expensive.  But, who has to eat while they’re on vacation, right?

Disney Cruise to Alaska

We’ve already been on a Disney Cruise and the thing is we said we probably wouldn’t go on another one.  Lately we’ve been getting the Disney Cruise bug again!  A Disney Cruise is just one of the best vacations for families because it’s SO easy and you really don’t need to plan that much!  But you still get the DISNEY MAGIC!  Since my husband was born in Alaska I’d love to take my son there…  but a cruise is more my idea for visiting!

Disney Cruise Line features 5, 7, & 9 night cruises to Alaska only during certain times of the year.  Another reason why I want to do a DCL cruise to Alaska is because they sail on the Disney Wonder.  And the Disney Wonder features Tiana’s Place (Tiana is my favorite Disney character)!  There are different ports of call depending on which cruise you choose as well.  However – the best thing about Disney Cruises is the kids clubs.  And the Disney Wonder has the Marvel Superhero Academy!  My son would LOVE it!

Adventures by Disney (to anywhere)

My husband just found out about Adventures by Disney a couple weeks ago.  I’m not sure where he’s been since I used to be a travel agent, but whatever!  I have always thought we could never afford a trip like that, but when I started looking into everything that was included I think it’s actually a pretty great value!  Adventures by Disney has a lot of great vacations for families!

Honestly, I would go to an Adventures by Disney vacation anywhere (even the ones in the United States)!  I’d have to say that Italy is probably my top destination of choice if I could only do one.  My husband gets a little frustrated with me because when we talk about DREAM vacations I have a problem with traveling abroad unless I had a guide with me.  I’m so afraid we’d get lost and not be able to communicate with anyone!  So Adventures by Disney really solves that problem for me because you are equipped with a VERY specialized travel guide!

So, that’s it!  The Lau Family Travels DREAM VACATION LIST for the next 10 years…

My husband really wants to add Vegas to this list…  he wrote a post ALL about it here!  I’m sure over the next 10 years we will add to our DREAM VACATION LIST…  but for now this is it!  Do you think we’ll be able to check them all off the list before the 10 years is up?

Comment below with your dream vacation!  I’d love to hear where you would all love to go!

  1. I have been looking at Disney Cruises, I mean it’s Disney on a cruise how amazing would that be. We’ve never been on a cruise and have heard nothing but great things about all Disney cruises. So happy to hear it made your top 5 list as well!

  2. I’m really interested in an Adventures by Disney, but the price is um, scary! I’d love to hear a break down of why you think the value is there!

    1. Right? It’s even a little scary for me. I have thought about doing the Disneyland/Cali one that they have. I should definitely work on a post comparing the costs of doing it on your own VS. Adventures by Disney and compare what you get! You’ve given me a great post to research! 🙂
